#7... The Matriarch

Her babies are safely tucked behind the homestead.

Each evening, Brian Cooper comes with carrots and spinach from the garden… and it was his hands that once wrapped that olde, worn scarf around her neck.

He spoke softly then, telling her what liberty meant… what it cost… and why it mattered.

She did not understand it all at once.
But she felt it.

Now, as she walks the quiet paths of Colorado Springs, she carries those words with her — not just around her shoulders, but deep within her heart.

And in that still, steady way of hers…
she walks with pride,
and with a kind of gratitude so deep it cannot be spoken —
only lived.

Grateful… to be born in the land of the free.
